Upgrading VMware ESXi version for Avaya Aura Web Gateway

About this task

If the ESXi upgrade is required for upgrading Avaya Aura® Web Gateway to Release 10.x, use the following procedure to upgrade ESXi to supported ESXi version.

Before you begin

  • You must do the backup of the AAWG Virtual Machine (VM).

  • You must power off AAWG VM.

Procedure

  1. Log into vSphere Client
  2. Log into vCenter Server using vSphere Client credentials.

    The vCenter Server manages the ESXi host running the AAWG VM.

  3. In the vSphere Client, navigate to the AAWG VM.
  4. To power off the AAWG VM, do the following:
    1. Go to the vSphere Client
    2. Right-click on the name of the AAWG VM and select Power > Power Off.
  5. Right-click on the name of the AAWG VM and select Compatibility  > Upgrade VM Compatibility

    The Upgrade Virtual Machine Compatibility window is displayed.

  6. In the Upgrade Virtual Machine Compatibility window, select ESXi 8.x from the list.

    A VMware shows the new VM hardware version that is compatible with the selected ESXi version.

  7. To start the upgrade of VMware version, click OK.

    The VM is upgraded to the selected compatibility level.

  8. To power on the AAWG VM, do the following:
    1. Go to the vSphere Client
    2. Right-click on the name of the AAWG VM and select Power > Power On.

    VM is started.
