About this task

Use the following procedure to migrate Appliance Virtualization Platform that is deployed on Avaya Solutions Platform 120 to Avaya Solutions Platform 130 Release 5.0 with Avaya Aura® applications deployed on it.

Before you begin

Important:

This should be a like to like migration from application perspective. So only migrate the existing applications first and do not deploy any additional application. Once all the applications are migrated successfully, then use the Avaya One Source (A1S) Configurator tool to determine if any additional applications can be deployed on Avaya Solutions Platform 130.

Procedure

  1. Take the backup of the Avaya Aura® application and keep it on remote servers.

For information about taking the backup for each application, see the application-specific document.

  2. To do the graceful shutdown of the application, log in to the host UI by accessing the ESXi host, and do the following:
    1. Select the application, right-click, and then click Guest OS > Shut down.

The system displays the following message:

Are you sure you want to shut down <virtual_machine_name>.

    2. To proceed, click Yes.
    Note:
    • If you have a virtual machine on the host, Avaya recommends to do the graceful shutdown of the virtual machine.

    • For applications, such as Communication Manager and Session Manager, ensure that no calls are running on the system.

  3. Shut down the Appliance Virtualization Platform host using the command line interface.

For information, see Shutting down Appliance Virtualization Platform host from CLI.

  4. Migrate Appliance Virtualization Platform (Dell PowerEdge R640) to Avaya Solutions Platform 130 Release 6.0.

For information, see Migrating Appliance Virtualization Platform to Avaya Solutions Platform 130 Release 6.0.

  5. Do the following:
    Important:
    • While working with multiple Avaya Aura® application, complete the deploying and restoring operations on one application at a time.

    • For deploying and restoring multiple Avaya Aura® application follow the sequence as per the upgrade order.

    1. Deploy the Avaya Aura® applications.

For information about deploying each application, see the application-specific Virtualized Environment deployment document.

    2. To restore the backup on different Avaya Aura® applications, do the following:
      • On System Manager, run the upgradeSMGR command with data migration utility, backup file, and the service pack or feature pack as inputs to proceed.

For information about running the data migration utility, see Upgrading Avaya Aura® System Manager.

      • On Session Manager, run the upgradeSM command with the backup file.

For information about running the data migration utility, see Upgrading Avaya Aura® Session Manager.

      • On Communication Manager, restore the backup and ensure everything is working fine.

For information about restoring the backup, see Upgrading Avaya Aura® Communication Manager.

      • On Application Enablement Services, restore the backup and ensure everything is working fine.
