Upgrading Avaya Aura Device Services

About this task

This procedure provides the high-level steps for upgrading Avaya Aura® Device Services to Release 10.2.x.

This procedure applies to the following deployment types:

  • OVA-based deployments on an ESXi host.

  • All software-only deployments.

If you have Avaya Aura® Device Services deployed on a on an Appliance Virtualization Platform (AVP) host, see the upgrade procedures in Upgrading Avaya Aura Device Services on AVP.

This procedure also describes cluster deployments. If you have a standalone Avaya Aura® Device Services deployment, ignore the references to other cluster nodes.

Note:

If required, you can abort the upgrade procedure and roll back to the previously installed release.

Procedure

  1. Obtain a copy of the latest system layer update file and application installer file.

    For more information about system layer updates, see either System layer (operating system) updates for virtual machines deployed using Avaya-provided OVAs or Updating the system layer for software-only deployments depending on your deployment type.

  2. Perform a full system backup.

    These backups are used if you need to abort the upgrade procedure and roll back to the currently installed Release 10.1.1.x.

  3. Upgrade the virtual machines:
    1. Upgrade the system layer.
    2. Upgrade the Avaya Aura® Device Services application.
