Assigning a node to a different Cassandra datacenter

Last Updated : Jun 08, 2026 |

About this task

To change the structure of your Cassandra datacenters, you can assign an Avaya Aura® Device Services node to a different Cassandra datacenter. For example, after upgrading to Release 10.1.1, all Avaya Aura® Device Services nodes belong to the default datacenter. To improve resiliency, you can re-assign some of the nodes to a new datacenter.

Note:

A datacenter is a virtual entity. Therefore, to create a new datacenter, you only need to specify a unique datacenter name when configuring a node.

Procedure

  1. Log in as an administrator to the CLI of the node you want to re-assign to another Cassandra database.
  2. To start the configuration utility, run the following command:
    app configure
  3. Select Clustering Configuration and press Enter.
  4. Select New Datacenter name and press Enter.
  5. In Name, enter the Cassandra datacenter name as follows:
    • To add the node to a new datacenter, provide a name of your choice for that datacenter.

    • To add the node to an existing datacenter, provide the name of one of existing datacenters on Avaya Aura® Device Services.

    • To add the node to the default dc1 datacenter, leave the field blank.

  6. Select Apply and press Enter.

Avaya Aura® Device Services adds the node to the selected datacenter and updates the datacenter topology.
