Increasing the file size limit for phone firmware packages to 1.5 GB

Last Updated : Jun 08, 2026 |

About this task

By default, the Utility Server supports uploading phone firmware packages no larger than 800 MB. You can increase this limit to 1,500 MB (1.5 GB) if required. For example, when you use Avaya Vantage™ phones in your deployment, as Avaya Vantage™ firmware packages often exceed 800 MB.

Important:

After upgrading, Avaya Aura® Device Services resets the file size limit to its default value. Therefore, you must repeat this procedure after upgrading Avaya Aura® Device Services.

Procedure

  1. Log in to Avaya Aura® Device Services as an administrator using an SSH connection.
  2. Run the following command:
    cdto misc
  3. To increase the file size limit, run the following command:
    sudo ./enableVantageFWSupport.sh --install

Although the script name references Avaya Vantage™, the script increases the firmware package size limit for all phone models that the Utility Server supports.

  4. In a cluster environment, repeat the steps above on all remaining nodes in the cluster.
  5. To ensure that Avaya Aura® Device Services applied the changes, run the following command:
    sudo ./enableVantageFWSupport.sh --status
