Setting up a third-party SNMPv3 server

Last Updated : Jun 10, 2026 |

About this task

In order to send alarms to a third-part server, the following elements must be configured on that server:

  • SNMPv3 server software such as SNMP Manager on Linux.

  • An SNMP user account configured on the third-party server. A matching user is configured on the Avaya Aura® Device Services server.

  • Firewall access to the SNMP server. The defaults for most SNMP server installations are port 161 (UDP and TCP) for SNMP client access and port 162 for SNMP traps (UDP and TCP).

Procedure

  1. Using the documentation for the third-party server operating system and/or the SNMP server software, verify the installation of the SNMP server.
  2. Check that the third-party server is accessible on the ports configured for SNMP.
  3. Check that you have the details for the SNMP server configured on the third-party server for use by Avaya Aura® Device Services. The required details are:
    • The user name.

    • The user's authentication password.

    • The user's encryption password.

    • The encryption algorithm to use; AES or DES.

    • The IP address of the SNMP server.

    • The destination port for SNMP traps on the SNMP server.
