Creating required virtual hard disks for a virtual machine

Last Updated : Jun 10, 2026 |

About this task

By default, Microsoft Azure creates a virtual machine with a single virtual hard disk. Avaya Aura® Device Services requires four virtual hard disks. You must add the required virtual hard disks manually.

You must create three additional virtual disks with the following disk sizes:

  • First additional disk (Disk 2): 70 Gb

  • Second additional disk (Disk 3): 40 Gb

  • Third additional disk (Disk 4): 10 Gb

Before you begin

  • Ensure that your virtual machine has 250 Gb of free disk space.

  • Ensure that the size of the primary hard disk where RHEL is installed equals to 125 Gb. If the disk size is not equal to 125 Gb, resize the disk.

Procedure

  1. On the Microsoft Azure administration portal, on the Virtual Machines page, select your virtual machine.

Microsoft Azure displays the Settings window for the virtual machine.

  2. Stop the Microsoft Azure virtual machine.
  3. In the Settings area, click Disks.
  4. Click Add data disk.
  5. In the Name field, click the arrow icon and then click Create disk.

Microsoft Azure displays the Create managed disk window.

  6. In the Create managed disk window, do the following:
    1. In Disk name, type a disk name of your choice.

For example, for the first additional disk, type Disk2.

    2. In Size, click Change size and type the disk size according to the following table:

      Disk

      Size (Gb)

      First additional disk (Disk 2)

      70

      Second additional disk (Disk 3)

      40

      Third additional disk (Disk 4)

      10

    3. For other parameters, keep the default values.
  7. Click Create.
  8. Click Save.
  9. Repeat steps 4 to 8 to create the additional required virtual hard disks.
