Assigning firewall rules to virtual machines

Last Updated : Jun 10, 2026 |

About this task

You must manually assign a firewall rule to your virtual machines if the Target parameter of the rule is set to Specific target tags. In Google Cloud Platform, you use a tag associated with a rule to assign firewall rules to virtual machines indirectly.

Before you begin

Configure firewall rules for Avaya Aura® Device Services application network interfaces and for Utility Server network interfaces, and remember the tags that you assigned to the firewall rules.

Procedure

  1. In Google Cloud Console, navigate to Compute Engine > VM instances.
  2. In Instances, click the name of your Avaya Aura® Device Services virtual machine.

Google Cloud Console displays the VM instance details page.

  3. Click Edit.
  4. In Network tags, type the tags that you assigned to the firewall rules.
  5. Click Save.
  6. In a cluster deployment, repeat the previous steps for all virtual machines.
