Enabling editing of the /etc/hosts file

Last Updated : Jun 05, 2026 |

About this task

You use the /etc/hosts file to manually map the IP addresses of System Manager and Avaya Aura® Device Services and Utility Server nodes to their hostnames. By default, every time when Avaya Aura® Device Services restarts, Google Cloud Platform automatically changes the content of the /etc/hosts/ file to its default state. Use this procedure to make your entries in the file permanent.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the virtual machine as the root user using an SSH connection.
  2. Run the following command to delete the google_hostname.sh file:
    rm -rf /etc/dhcp/dhclient.d/google_hostname.sh
