Enabling the Hyper-V service

About this task

The Hyper-V service is not enabled by default on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 operating systems. You must enable Hyper-V manually.

The following procedure is for Windows 10.

Procedure

  1. From the Windows Start menu, navigate to Programs > Programs and Features.
  2. Click Turn Windows features on or off.
  3. In the Windows Features window, select the Hyper-V check box.
  4. Ensure that all the check boxes under the Hyper-V check box are selected.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Restart your computer to apply changes.

    After the restart, you can run the Hyper-V Manager to manage virtual machines.
