Sending a chat message to a Microsoft Teams contact

About this task

You can send a chat message to a Microsoft Teams contact or a group of contacts from the Chats tab of the Corporate Contacts widget. If you have unread messages, you can see a red dot next to the Chats tab name and the unread chat.

You can send plain and rich text and images from the clipboard. You can receive plain text, attachments, emojis, rich text content, and images, including GIFs. You cannot edit and delete chat messages. However, you can see if a Microsoft Teams contact edited a message.

Procedure

  1. On the Corporate Contacts widget, do one of the following:
    • On the Chats tab, search for the contact or the contact group.

    • On the Users tab, search for the contact.

    • On the Groups tab, select the user group and search for the group member.

  2. Do one of the following:
    • On the Chats tab, click the contact name.

    • On the Users or Groups tab, next to the contact, click the Chat icon.

  3. In the chat pane, type your message and click the Send icon.
  4. Optional To switch to a different chat, on the Chats tab, click the name of the contact to send a chat message.
