Starting a new conversation in a Microsoft Teams channel

Last Updated : Jun 27, 2023 |

About this task

You can start a new conversation in an available channel of a Microsoft Teams group. A new conversation is displayed as a separate post, and other group contacts can reply to it. You can also reply to a message in a conversation. If you have unread messages, you can see a red dot next to the Groups tab name and the corresponding channel.

You can send plain and rich text and images from the clipboard. You can receive plain text, attachments, emojis, rich text content, and images, including GIFs. You cannot edit and delete messages in a conversation. However, you can see if a Microsoft Teams contact edited a message.

The Microsoft Teams administrator creates and manages contact groups and channels.

Procedure

  3. In the channel pane, click New conversation.
