Setting up Avaya Vantage using the Avaya installation wizard

About this task

When you power up a new Avaya Vantage™ device for the first time or perform a factory reset, and the device configuration is not completed automatically, the Avaya installation wizard is displayed to help you set up the device. If there is no network connectivity, the device displays the installation wizard to help you set up a connection to a Wi-Fi network.

Note:

You can skip the installation wizard and configure the file server address and the group manually from Settings > Network & Internet > More > File Server.

Procedure

  1. On the Welcome screen, choose your preferred language.
  2. Optional To enable accessibility features, such as Magnification and TalkBack, tap Vision Settings.
  3. On the Network connection screen, choose how to connect the device to the network.

    • Wired (Ethernet): Use an Ethernet cable to connect the device to the network.

    • Wireless (Wi-Fi): Select a Wi-Fi network for a wireless network connection.

  4. Optional If you set the network mode to Wi-Fi, do the following to connect to a Wi-Fi network:
    1. On the Connect to Wi-Fi screen, select the required network from the available Wi-Fi networks.
    2. For a wireless network that requires authentication, enter the network credentials and select the appropriate CA certificate option from the following:

      • Use system certificates

      • Do not validate

    3. Tap Connect.

    After you connect the device to the network, it attempts to obtain the device configuration from the network through DHCP or Device Enrollment Services discovery. To skip this automatic configuration attempt and go to the next configuration screen, tap Skip.

    If the device successfully retrieves file server address from the network, it starts downloading configuration and software update files in the background. The wizard takes you to the Time Zone Selection screen. Go to Step 10.

    If the device cannot retrieve the file server address, the wizard displays the next configuration screen.

  5. Optional If prompted, enter the Device Enrollment Services enrollment code.

    Device Enrollment Services redirects the device to the correct file server. If you do not have an enrollment code, tap Skip to configure the file server address manually or through email.

    If the device successfully retrieves file server address from the network, it starts downloading configuration and software update files in the background. The wizard takes you to the Time Zone Selection screen. Go to Step 10.

  6. On the Configuration options screen, choose one of the following:

    • Email based configuration: Choose this option if your administrator instructs you to use your corporate email ID for an automatic configuration of the device.

    • Manual configuration: Choose this option if you have the file server address and group information from your administrator.

  7. If you select Email based configuration, on the next screen, type your corporate email ID and tap Next.

    Based on the domain in your email address, the wizard retrieves the available file server setup. Go to Step 10.

  8. Optional If the wizard prompts you to choose from a set of file server environments, select the one suitable for you or the one your administrator instructs you to use, and tap Next. Go to Step 10.
  9. If you select Manual configuration, on the Avaya Vantage Configuration screen, complete the following configuration information:

    • File Server: The configuration file server address.

    • Credentials: User name and password that the device uses for file server authentication. Provide these credentials if the file server requires HTTP authentication.

    • Group: The user group identifier for a specific configuration set for the device. The group information is optional. Enter the user group identifier if you receive it from your administrator.

    Contact your administrator to obtain the appropriate file server address and group value for your deployment environment. If the device requires credentials for server authentication, your administrator can provide the details.

  10. When prompted, select the appropriate time zone.
  11. When prompted to choose applications for installation, enable the toggle button beside the applications.

    Depending on the settings done by your administrator and your network location, you get the options to enable the following:

    • Google Play™ store: After you enable this, you receive a notification about the Google Terms of Service when Google Play store is ready to be installed on your device. Please read and acknowledge all terms and conditions to begin download and installation of Google Play store on your device.

    • Avaya Alexa: The option to enable Avaya Alexa is available based on your location. Currently, Avaya Alexa is available only in the US, Canada, and Mexico.

  12. Tap Close.

Result

The device takes you to the Home screen. The device starts downloading configuration and software update files in the background. After the downloads are complete, the device might restart to apply updates.
