These settings are used to configure IPv4 address support on the selected LAN.

Configuration Settings

These settings are not mergeable. Changes to these settings require a reboot of the system.

Field

Description

IP Address

Default = 192.168.42.1

Sets or shows the IP Office IPv4 address on the LAN.

  • If the IP Office is also acting as a DHCP server for the LAN, this address is also the starting address for the DHCP address range.

IP Mask

Default = 255.255.255.0 or DHCP client.

This is the IP subnet mask used with the IP Address.

Primary Transfer Address

Default = 0.0.0.0 (Disabled)

This setting is available on LAN1 of IP500 V2 systems. Any incoming IP packets without a matching service or session are translated to this address if set.

RIP Mode

Default = None

This setting is available on IP500 V2 systems. Routing Information Protocol (RIP) lets network routers exchange information about device locations and routes. Routes learnt using RIP are known as 'dynamic routes'. The IP Office system also supports 'static routes' though its IP Route settings.

The options are:

Listen Only (Passive)

Listen to RIP-1 and RIP-2 messages to learn RIP routes on the network.

RIP1

Listen to RIP-1 and RIP-2 messages. Send RIP-1 responses as a sub-network broadcast.

RIP2 Broadcast (RIP1 Compatibility)

Listen to RIP-1 and RIP-2 messages. Send RIP-2 responses as a sub-network broadcast.

RIP2 Multicast

Listen to RIP-1 and RIP-2 messages. Send RIP-2 responses to the RIP-2 multicast address.

Enable NAT

Default = Off

This setting is available on IP500 V2 systems. It controls whether the IP Office should apply NAT to IP traffic from LAN1 to LAN2.

Number of DHCP IP Addresses

Default = 200. Range = 1 to 999.

This defines the number of sequential IP addresses available for DHCP clients.

DHCP Mode

Default = DHCP Client.

Sets the IP Office IPv4 DHCP mode for the LAN. When doing DHCP:

  • For local devices on the LAN:

    • The IP Office allocates LAN devices addresses from the bottom of the available address range upwards.

  • For Dial-in users:

    • The IP Office allocates addresses from the top of the available range downwards.

    • The IP Office will only allocate an address from the same subnet as its own LAN address.

    • If the IP Office is acting as a DHCP server on both LAN1 and LAN2, it allocates available addresses from the LAN1 pool first.

The DHCP options are:

Option

Description

Server

The system functions as a DHCP Server for the LAN, allocating IPv4 addresses when requested to other devices on the network and to PPP Dial-in users.

Disabled

The IP Office system is not a DHCP client or server.

Dial In

The IP Office functions as a DHCP server for PPP Dial-in users only.

Client

The IP Office system requests an IPv4 address from a DHCP server on the LAN.

Advanced

Default = Disabled.

When functioning as a DHCP server, you can configure the IP Office with multiple address pools from which it can issue IPv4 addresses.

  • When enabled, IP Office Manager displays an additional DHCP Pools tab.
