Immediate Backups

About this task

Using the Voicemail Pro client, you can create an immediate backup.

Procedure

  1. Open the Voicemail Pro Client application and connect to voicemail server.
  2. From the Administration menu, select Preferences > General .
  3. Click the Backup & Restore tab.
  4. Click Backup Now.
  5. Select the Encrypt Backup check box to protect backup files from unintended and malicious tampering.
  6. Select the items that you want to include in the backup. Backup options descriptions.
  7. To save the backup files locally, enter a local file path or a remote file path in UNC format (\server\filepath) in Location.
    • Default path: /opt/vmpro/Backup/Scheduled.

    • On a Unified Communications Module, the paths /media/sdb1 and /media/sdc1 can be used to access the module's USB slots.

  8. If you want to save the backup files to a remote FTP server, select Remote Backup Configuration and proceed as follows:
    1. Enter the host name or the IP address of the remote FTP server in Remote FTP Host.
    2. Enter the absolute FTP path of the folder on the remote FTP server in Remote FTP Location.
    3. Enter the FTP user name in FTP User Name.
    4. Enter the FTP password in FTP Password.
    5. If you want to use SFTP for data transfer, select SFTP.
    6. Click Test Connection to verify the connectivity of the voicemail server to the remote FTP or SFTP server.

      If you receive an error message about the authenticity of the host.

  9. Click OK to start the backup.
    Note:

    If a backup is in progress, the Restore & Backup dialog box displays Abort instead of Backup Now. Click Abort to abandon the backup in progress.
