In a Server Edition network, the Primary Server can upgrade its connected Secondary Server and Expansion System (L) servers to the same software level as itself. However, this does not work if the Primary Server is a newly installed virtual machine.

This issue is related to the fact the OVA deployment does not include a set of the original RPM files required for reinstallation of IP Office components. See Original RPM files not installed

The solution is to first upgrade the Primary Server using any of the documented methods, see Transferring the ISO File. The upgrade process includes loading all the original RPM files onto the server which it can then use to upgrade other servers.
