Limitation of desk phone mode for shared control

Last Updated : Dec 29, 2025 |

Windows and macOS users can switch their Avaya Workplace Client to shared control mode. In this mode, the client can make and answer calls using the user's associated desk phone.

When Avaya Workplace Client and J100 Series desk phone are registered remotely using Session Border Controller (SBC), shared control is unavailable because both endpoints appear to originate from the same IP address, that of the SBC. Hence, it prevents IP Office from distinguishing between the addresses. Therefore, the following are the expected functionalities:
  • The Avaya Workplace Client does not show the My Deskphone option.

  • Shared Control features, such as call handling through the desk phone from the soft client, are disabled.

For more information on shared control and the availability scenarios, see IP Office Avaya Workplace Client Installation Notes.
