About backing up and restoring your system

Last Updated : Apr 25, 2023 |

The backup and restore features provide the ability to create and restore snapshots of the EMS and configured SBC devices. Backup information is stored in a user-defined location, on the local EMS server or a configured remote server. The location must be secure and physically separate from the SBC equipment chassis to ensure later retrieval or restoration.

When you perform a backup on the EMS, the following components are backed up:

  • Primary EMS configuration data

  • Secondary EMS configuration data, if deployed

  • Configuration data for all deployed SBC devices

  • Certificates installed in the deployment

When you perform a backup on an SBC device, the following components are backed up:

  • Configuration data of that SBC device

  • Certificates installed in the deployment

Note:
  • You can do a system backup anytime and it does not require a maintenance window. However, try to schedule backups during a no-traffic or low-traffic time of day.

  • For EMS, you can take a configuration backup manually and restore it as needed. You can also configure automatic snapshots for EMS.

  • For SBC devices, you can only take a backup manually. You can back up and restore the functional SBC devices.

  • To download the snapshot, you can use the download link provided in the Snapshot tab.
