Creating a WhatsApp social media account

About this task

Before you create a WhatsApp social media account on Application Center Administration, complete the following:

  • Create or select your Meta and WhatsApp business accounts.

  • Create or select your WhatsApp business profile.

  • Verify your WhatsApp business number.

Before you begin

  • Ensure that you have a Meta business account.

  • Ensure that you have a valid Facebook profile. For more information about verifying your Facebook profile, see Meta Business Help Center.

  • Log in to Application Center Administration as an account administrator.

Procedure

  1. In the navigation tree, click Channels > Messaging.
  2. On the Messaging Integrations page, click WhatsApp > Create WhatsApp Profile.
  3. Accept the terms of service and click Create Profile.
  4. On the Continue as <Meta account name> window, click Continue as <Meta account name>.

    You can view this window if you are logged in to Meta. If you are not logged in, use your Meta credentials to log in.

  5. On the Connect your Account to AXP-<Region Name> window, review the business account access and billing permissions and click Get Started.

    The <Region Name> in the window title displays the region to which the Avaya Experience Platform™ Public Cloud account is mapped. For example, for the Asia-Pacific region, AXP-APAC.

  6. Ensure that the Meta business account section displays your Meta business account details, and click Next.
  7. Select the Create or select your WhatsApp Business account option.
  8. From the Choose a WhatsApp Business account list, select a WhatsApp business account.
    Note:

    Although a customer can have multiple WhatsApp business accounts, Avaya Experience Platform™ Public Cloud supports only one WhatsApp business account per customer. Each WhatsApp business account can have up to 25 phone numbers.

  9. From the Create or select a WhatsApp Business profile list, select Create a new WhatsApp Business profile and click Next.
  10. In the WhatsApp Business profile display name field, type the display name.
  11. From the Category list, select a category and click Next.
  12. In Phone Number, enter your WhatsApp phone number.
  13. From the Choose how you would like to verify your number options, select an option and click Next.

    Application Center Administration sends a One Time Password (OTP) to the phone number.

  14. In the Verify your phone number field, enter the OTP and click Next.
    Note:

    In the following circumstances, Meta marks the verified phone number as EXPIRED if:

    • The quality rating of the phone number is low and drops consistently.

    • There are no interactions for 45 days.

  15. Click Save > Finish.

    The Messaging Integrations page displays the newly added WhatsApp social media account.
