Turning the camera on or off

Last Updated : Oct 20, 2022 |

About this task

Avaya Vantage™ has an administrator-controlled camera setting that enables or disables the integrated digital camera on your device or an external USB camera connected to your device. Your administrator controls the setting but can also enable you to turn the camera on or off. When enabled, you can use this digital shutter to prevent the device camera from transmitting videos or images globally in all camera-enabled applications. For calls and meetings, you can turn the camera on or off at the start or during an active call or meeting.

Note:

Your administrator must configure the CAMERASTAT parameter in the settings file to enable you to turn the camera on or off.

Before you begin

Ensure that your administrator enables you to turn the camera on or off.

Procedure

  1. Swipe down from the top bar to view the quick settings options.
  2. Optional If you do not see the Camera On (camera on) or Camera Off (camera off) option, do the following to add it to the quick settings options:
    1. Swipe down again from the quick settings bar.
    2. Tap Edit to enter the edit mode.

The Edit window displays the currently visible quick settings tiles in the upper panel and the hidden quick settings tiles in the lower shaded panel.

    3. To add a tile to the quick settings menu, drag the tile from the lower panel to the upper panel. To hide a tile from the quick settings menu, drag the tile from the upper panel to the lower panel.

For example, to make the camera on or camera off icon available in the quick settings options, drag the Digital Shutter option to the upper panel.

  3. To turn on the camera, tap camera off.
  4. To turn off the camera, tap camera on.

When you turn off the camera, you cannot transmit video through the camera for Android applications, but you can see video from other users. You also cannot take photos or video clips.

    Note:

Turning the camera on or off affects the integrated camera on the device and an external USB camera connected to the device.
