The following sections contain the information necessary to deploy two Avaya SBC security devices in a High-Availability (HA) configuration where they are not geographically co-located.
One Avaya SBC security device is deployed as the HA Primary at Site 1 and another as the HA Secondary at Site 2. Both are controlled by Avaya EMS, which synchronizes the database in to the lower node Avaya SBC to maintain real-time network information. If the HA Primary Avaya SBC fails, the HA Secondary Avaya SBC immediately takes up its monitoring and mitigation activities while the EMS raises the appropriate alarm indications.
The following figure illustrates that you can use most Avaya SBC device models in the HA implementation , except the Portwell Cad Avaya SBC .
