Protocol Scrubbing utilizes a statistical mechanism to check incoming SIP signaling messages for protocol-specific events and anomalies.
Protocol scrubbing verifies message attributes against customizable templates obtained from Avaya, such as proper message formatting, message sequence, field length, and content.
The protocol scrubber templates dictate the security rules and drop the messages that violate them.
The protocol scrubber either rewrites, truncates, rejects, or drops messages that violate syntax rules. The processing rules imposed by the templates determine how the messages are repaired.
Note:
Avaya prepares the Protocol Scrubbing rule templates. Users can make minimal edits to these templates.
With the Protocol Scrubbing feature for SIP, you can do the following:
Install a scrubber rules package.
Enable or disable the scrubber rules defined in the package.
Delete the package from the EMS server.
View a list of all installed scrubber rules.
