Updating the Avaya Aura® MS KVM virtual appliance to enable secure boot

Last Updated : Mar 25, 2025 |
Prolog information
New Avaya Aura® MS appliances are deployed with the appliance software already installed and the secure boot configuration set appropriately. When updating an Avaya Aura® MS appliance software version 10.2.0 SP1 or newer, the secure boot setting may be set to enabled. For KVM on Red Hat® appliances this setting cannot be changed in-place and requires re-deploying the target VM.
Enabling secure boot is not required to run any version of the Avaya Aura® MS appliance but is recommended to increase the security of the system.
Before you begin
  • Note the appliance-specific configuration for the target VM (hostname, IP, netmask, gateway, etc). This information is required when re-deploying the VM and is not backed up by the Avaya Aura® MS backup procedure.
  • Create Avaya Aura® MS backups of the current system. Configuration and application data backups of the current installation are required to preserve the data through the upgrade process and if a rollback is required.
  • Ensure that you have saved the Avaya Aura® MS backups in a safe location
  1. Shut down the VM that will be re-deployed.
  2. Deploy a new AMS 10.2.0 SP1 (or later) virtual appliance on ASP 130 using procedures described in Deploying Avaya Aura® MS KVM Installer.
  3. Restore existing configuration using task Uploading and restoring backup files.
  4. Once the new instance is confirmed to be restored properly, remove the old instance.
