Accessing the root account

About this task

Use this procedure to access the root account.

This procedure is not necessary for Release 8.0.1 and later.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Session Manager command line interface using the customer credentials.
  2. Run the following command:
    [cust@sm ~]$ newrole -r unconfined_r
    Note:

    You must change the SELinux roles before switching users when using the customer account.

  3. Enter the customer password.
  4. Run the following command:
    [cust@sm ~]$ su - root
    Note:

    Run this command only if the Enable Customer Root account check box is selected while deploying Session Manager or Branch Session Manager using Solutions Deployment Manager and the root password is set.

  5. Enter the root password.
