Network BLF operation

Last Updated : Nov 24, 2023 |

This section describes how the information for Busy Lamp Field (BLF) updates operates for IP Office SoftConsole applications in a multi-site network. IP Office systems in a network use several mechanisms to share user state information updates.

  • Extensions exchange user state information with the IP Office to which they are registered.

  • The IP Office systems in the multi-site network share user state information with each other.

  • IP Office SoftConsole receives user state information from the IP Office to it has logged in. The mechanism used for this depends on whether it is on the same sub-net as the IP Office.

    • Local

Each IP Office system broadcasts application BLF update notifications to both of its subnets (LAN1 and LAN2). All IP Office SoftConsole applications running on the same subnets can receive those broadcasts.

    • Remote

When an IP Office SoftConsole logs onto an IP Office system from a remote subnet, it does not see the local BLF update notification messages that the IP Office system broadcasts. Instead, the IP Office will send BLF update notification messages directly to the IP Office SoftConsole using a unicast message. Each IP Office system supports remote BLF update notifications for up to 10 remote applications, on a first-come first-served basis.
