Installing the upgrade patch if required

About this task

This procedure provides general patching steps. For more information about specific patches, see Avaya Breeze® platform Release Notes.

Warning:

You cannot remove an installed patch or part installed patch. Therefore, you must:

  1. Take a snapshot of the Avaya Breeze® platform before installing the patch. See VMware snapshots for special considerations when using snapshots.

  2. Verify that the system is running correctly after you install the patch.

  3. After verification, remove the snapshot within 12–24 hours.

Before you begin

  • The server must be in the Deny New Service state.

  • For an Avaya Breeze® platform server, ensure that the activity count is 0.

  • Download the patch file and copy it to the Avaya Breeze® platform server.

  • The patch should have the following Linux permissions: rw-r--r--.

Procedure

  1. Take a snapshot of Avaya Breeze® platform before installing the patch.
  2. Log in to Avaya Breeze® platform using the customer account.
  3. Execute the patchCE command.
    • For example: $ patchCE —i /home/cust/<patchname>.bin

  4. When prompted that the patch is service interrupting, answer Yes and press Enter.
    • The patch installs. Wait for the patch installation to complete. Depending on the patch, Avaya Breeze® platform may reboot.

  5. Verify the version of the installed patch. You can view this in one of the following ways:
    • Log in to Avaya Breeze® platform and run the patchCE –s command.

    • Log in to Avaya Breeze® platform and run the swversion command.

  6. In System Manager, click Elements > Avaya Breeze® > Server Administration.
  7. Identify the row for the Avaya Breeze® platform server you are patching and verify the following:
    • The Service Install Status is a green checkmark.

    • The Security Module is Up.

    • The License mode is a green checkmark.

    • The Version displays the new release.

  8. When verified, remove the snapshot within 12–24 hours.
