Replacing an identity certificate

Procedure

  1. On the System Manager web console, click Services > Inventory.
  2. In the navigation pane, click Manage Elements.
  3. On the Manage Elements page, select an element and click More Actions > Manage Identity Certificates.
  4. On the Manage Identity Certificates page, select the certificate that you want to replace.
  5. Click Replace.

    On the Replace Identity Certificate page, select one of the following:

    • Replace this Certificate with Internal CA Signed Certificate

    • Import third party certificate

    • Generate Certificate Signing Request (CSR) for third party certificate

  6. Click Replace this Certificate with Internal CA Signed Certificate, and do the following:
    1. Select the Common Name (CN) check box and type the common name that is defined in the existing certificate.
    2. Select the key algorithm and key size from the respective fields.

      System Manager uses the SHA2 algorithm for generating certificates.

    3. Optional In Subject Alternative Name, select the relevant options and enter the details.
    4. Optional In OtherName, type the other name for the certificate signing request.
    5. To replace the identity certificate with the internal CA signed certificate, click Commit.
  7. Click Import third party certificate, and do the following:
    1. In the Please select a file field, choose the file from your local computer.
    2. In the Password field, type the password.
    3. Click Retrieve Certificate.

      The Certificate Details section displays the details of the certificate.

    4. Review the details of the uploaded certificate.
    5. To replace the certificate with the third-party certificate that you imported, click Commit.
  8. Click Generate Certificate Signing Request (CSR) for third party certificate, and do the following:
    1. Select the common name (CN) check box and type the common name that is defined in the existing certificate.
    2. Select the key algorithm and key size from the respective fields.

      System Manager uses the SHA2 algorithm for generating certificates.

    3. Optional In Subject Alternative Name, select the relevant options and enter the details.
    4. In OtherName, type the other name for the certificate signing request.
    5. Click Generate CSR.
    6. Ensure that the downloaded CSR is third-party signed.
    7. Import the signed certificate using the Import third party certificate option.
  9. For the newly generated certificates to take effect, restart the System Manager Application server.
