Last Updated : Dec 19, 2025 |
Prolog information
Use this task to migrate a Virtual Machine running on a VMWare® hypervisor to a KVM on Red Hat® hypervisor. For more information on migrating, see Installing Avaya Solutions Platform 130 Series R6.0.
Note:
You can deploy the new server with the same or different IP.
  1. Log in to the Element Manager console of the Avaya Aura® MS appliance running on the VMWare host.
  2. Copy the backed-up files off the server.
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
For more information on how to perform a backup of the Avaya Aura® MS appliance, see the Backup and Restore chapter in this document.
  3. Power off the Avaya Aura® MS appliance.
  4. Deploy the new Avaya Aura® MS appliance on the KVM for Red Hat® host and configure the first-boot settings as per the settings of the backed-up Avaya Aura® MS appliance.
  5. Log in to the Element Manager console of the Avaya Aura® MS appliance running on the KVM for Red Hat® host.
  6. Use the upgrade tool to upgrade the system configuration data by entering the following on the command-line:
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
    amsupgrade SystemConfigBackupFilename.zip
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
    Important:
Restore the system configuration data before restoring the application data to ensure that the application data is restored to the configured location.
    Important:
Backup data is not portable from one server to another. If you need to replace a server, you must configure the server with the same installation path, IP address, and hostname so that the data is compatible with the server configuration.
  7. Press Y to stop all Avaya Aura® MS services when prompted. The tool upgrades the data.
  8. Use the upgrade tool to upgrade the application content data by entering the following on the command-line:
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

    The tool upgrades the data.
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
    Note:
The time required to complete the application content upgrade depends on the amount of application data in the backup file.
  10. NOTE: If a different IP is used on the newly deployed KVM server, log in to the Element Manager console and navigate to System Configuration Network SettingsIP Interface Assignment to configure the IP Interfaces.
  11. Reboot the Avaya Aura® MS appliance.
