Verifying the interface mapping

About this task

Use this task to verify that the interface mapping done when deploying an OVA or ISO is valid. You must verify that the MAC address shown in the CLI output matches the MAC address shown in the VMware GUI display.

Before you begin

Deploy the OVA or ISO and administer the interface mapping.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the EMS command line interface using the ipcs login and password.

    To access root privileges, log in as root user.

  2. Run the following command:

    ip addr

    The system displays status of the interface ports, for example:





  3. Note that this example shows the M1 interface MAC address as 00:50:56:9c:d8:c6 on the link/ether line of the display.
  4. Right-click the VMware user interface and select Edit Settings.
  5. Navigate to Virtual Hardware > Edit Settings for the Network Adapters. For example, see Network adapter 1 in the following example:

  6. Note that this example shows Network adapter 1 as 00:50:56:9c:d8:c6 in the MAC Address field.
  7. Verify that the MAC addresses match between the CLI output and the VMware GUI output. If the MAC addresses do not match, you must readminister the interface mappings.
