For IP Office systems hosting Media Manager, special considerations apply for the upgrade to R11.1:
-
Prior to IP Office R11.1, call recordings and call details in the recordings database were stored unencrypted. For IP Office R11.1 and higher, they are encrypted. To do that, after the upgrade to R11.1, when Media Manager is restarted it runs an automatic process to encrypted all existing call details in the recordings database.
-
This encryption process only needs to run once. Once completed it is not run again.
-
The duration of the encryption process depends on the number of call recordings and the server resources. For example, systems with a million call recordings have been seen to take up to 10 hours.
-
Any interruptions to the encryption process, for example restarting the Media Manager service or the IP Office server, can cause Media Manager to create a new database with no previous call recording details. Therefore, you must:
-
After upgrading to IP Office R11.0.4.8, include Media Manager in the backup.
-
Before starting the upgrade to IP Office R11.1.3, stop the Media Manager service and disable its auto-start option.
-
After the upgrade to IP Office R11.1.3, restart the Media Manager service. This starts the encryption process.
-
Let the encryption process run until it has completed. You can see the status of the encryption process in the upgrade log files. See
Upgrade logs..
-
During the encryption process, call recording of new calls continues as that function is performed separately by the voicemail service.
