Upgrading a network of IP Office servers

Last Updated : Apr 18, 2024 |
Prolog information
When upgrading IP Office servers in a Server Edition or Select network, you must update each Linux-based server in the network using the processes in this document.
  • If "Upgrade Available" appears in IP Office Web Manager, do not use that option.
  • If the "Consolidate Configuration Entries" menu opens in IP Office Web Manager, cancel the menu.

Recommend Upgrade Order

For a network of IP Office servers, the upgrade process can be approached as follows.
Single Server Upgrades
Simultaneous Server Upgrades
Upgrading servers one at a time allows resiliency support to users from other servers. When upgrading servers one at a time, the recommended upgrade order is:
  1. Linux-based IP Office Expansion servers.
  2. Secondary server.
  3. Primary server.
  4. IP500 V2 Expansion servers.
If you are confident with the upgrade process, you can run multiple upgrades in parallel using multiple USB upgrade keys or copies of the upgrade vmdk file.
However, whilst quicker, this removes the option for resiliency support for features between server.
