The following are the definitions for locale specific behaviors mention in this documentation.

Setting

Description

Companding

The typical companding method employed for telephone systems in that locale. Companding operation can be adjusted through the System > Telephony > Telephony tab.

Dialing Timeout

The method used by the system to determine when to disconnect an extension that does not complete dialing a valid routable number. There are two dialing timeouts:

  • Dial tone timeout - Timeout applied from a device going off-hook to receiving the first digit. Set to 30 seconds (10 seconds for Italy).

  • Overall timeout - Timeout applied from going off-hook to receive enough digits to complete dial string evaluation. Set to 60 seconds (10 seconds for Italy).

Disconnect Tone

The tone used when disconnect indication is provided to an extension.

  • For analog extensions, disconnect tone is always used.

  • The digital and IP extensions, the locale specific action can be either to play disconnect tone or to return to idle. The locale specific action (see Feature Phone Clearing below) can be overridden using the System > Telephony > Tones & Music > Disconnect Tone setting.

Disconnect Method

Indicates whether the locale uses busy tone disconnect or disconnect clear operation on analog trunks.

Display Language

The default language used for messages sent to extensions.

Feature Phone Clearing

When the far end of a call disconnects, digital and IP extensions can either hear disconnect tone or return to idle.

Default Currency

Used for Advice of Charge operation where supported on ISDN lines.

Default Time Zone

This value is used to set the default time offset and daylight saving settings for a system when using SNTP to obtain the UTC time value.
