Avaya IP Feature Phone Display Languages

For Avaya IP phones, the IP Office supplies language strings to the phones using the following methods:

  • Avaya menu strings:

    The auto-generated 46xxsettings.txt file tells the phone what language files to request for the Avaya menu strings. These are in addition to English, which the phones support by default.

    • The language files that the phones are told to request depend on the locale setting of the IP Office system. See the table below.

  • IP Office menu strings:

    The IP Office supplies strings for the IP Office menus through the phone connection.

Requested language files

This table indicates the Avaya menu language files that Avaya IP phones are told to request, based on the IP Office system locale.

The order of languages is important. The first language is the default used by the phone until changed by the phone user using the phone menus.
