Creating a pre-staging job for upgrade

Create a pre-staging job to upload the service or feature pack and datamigration bin file. Store them on the datastore of the host that you can use while upgrading System Manager.
Note:
The files are also stored in the old System Manager system for upgrades.
  1. To start the Solution Deployment Manager client, click StartAll ProgramsAvayaAvaya SDM Client or the SDM icon (Icon to open the Solution Deployment Manager client dashboard) on the desktop.
  2. Click Application Management.
  3. In the lower pane, click Pre-staging.
    STEP RESULT:
    System Manager displays the Pre-Staging page.
  4. Click New.
    STEP RESULT:
    Solution Deployment Manager displays the Application Pre-Stage window.
  5. In Select Pre-Stage Operation Type, click Upgrade.
  6. Click Next.
  7. In the Job Details section, do the following:
    1. In Name, type the name of the pre-staging job.
    2. In Description, type the description of the pre-staging job.
  8. In the Location and Platform Details section, do the following:
    1. In Select Location, click the location of the host.
    2. In Select Platform, click the platform name.
      STEP RESULT:
      When you select the platform name, Solution Deployment Manager fetches the host details and populates the data store configured on the host in Datastore.
    3. In Virtual Machine, click the System Manager virtual machine.
      ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
      The Virtual Machine field is applicable only when you select the Upgrade pre-stage operation type.
      Ensure that you select the platform on which the System Manager virtual machine resides.
    4. In Select Prestage Folder, click Browse.
      STEP RESULT:
      Solution Deployment Manager displays the DataStore Explorer window.
  9. In the DataStore Explorer window, do one of the following:
    • To select the pre-stage folder location, navigate to the required folder, and click Submit.
      When selecting a folder on the VMware datastore ensure that the folder is empty.
    • To create a new pre-staging folder location, click New.
      When creating a new folder, do not select any folder with virtual machine files.
      1. In Folder Select, in Enter Folder Name, type the folder name, and click OK.
      2. Click Submit.
        Solution Deployment Manager displays the Status pop-up message with the path of the pre-stage folder.
      3. Click OK.
  10. Click Next.
  11. To upload and store the latest OVA, select the OVA tab and click one of the following:
    • Local Path: in the URL field, type the absolute path of the System Manager service or feature pack file.
    • SW Library: in the File Name field, select the System Manager service or feature pack file.
      To use the SW Library option, the System Manager service or feature pack file must be present in the local software library directory. This directory is the one that you define during the Solution Deployment Manager client installation.
  12. To upload and store the latest service or feature pack, select the Service or Feature Pack tab and click one of the following:
    • Local Path: in the URL field, type the absolute path of the System Manager service or feature pack file.
    • SW Library: in the File Name field, select the System Manager service or feature pack file.
      To use the SW Library option, the System Manager service or feature pack file must be present in the local software library directory that is defined during the Solution Deployment Manager client installation.
  13. To upload and store the data migration bin file, click the Datamigration bin tab and click one of the following:
    • Local Path: in the URL field, type the absolute path of the System Manager data migration bin file.
    • SW Librarysect: in the File Name field, select the System Manager data migration bin file.
      To use the SW Library option, the System Manager data migration bin file must be present in the local software library directory that is defined during the Solution Deployment Manager client installation.
  14. Click Submit.
    STEP RESULT:
    Solution Deployment Manager creates the pre-staging job on the Pre-Staging page.
