Create a backup folder under the root directory of your web server. All backup files will be stored in that directory. For example, if your backup folder is C:/Inetpub/wwwroot/backup, the 46xxsettings.txt file should have a line similar to SET BRURI http://www.example.com/backup.
Go to StartSettingsControl PanelAdministrative Tools and select, depending on the Windows version, Internet Information Services Manager or Internet Information Services.
Right-click on the folder created for backup. Right-click on Default Web Site if there is no specific backup directory.
Select Properties.
In the Directory tab, enable Write checkbox.
