You must always take a full system backup before any major action such as a system upgrade. Whilst you do not need a backup for the actual upgrade, it is an important provision for system recovery if any issues occur in the upgrade process.

Avaya supports IP Office Web Manager back up/restore between Linux-based IP Office servers using HTTPS, HTTP or SFTP. You can use the following options:

• The Server Edition ISO installed on a non-Avaya PC and ignited as an IP Office Application Server, without enabling the Avaya one-X® Portal for IP Office and Voicemail Pro services.

• The IP Office Server Edition OVA file installed in VMware Player on a PC and ignited as an IP Office Application Server.
