External Data Mart high availability

Last Updated : Feb 23, 2023 |

Avaya Oceana® supports High Availability (HA) of Context Store External Data Mart (EDM) in three scenarios: Two for Avaya Oceana® and one for a standalone Context Store:

  • For Avaya Oceana®:

    • Context Store EDM is installed co-resident with Avaya Control Manager databases on a cluster of Microsoft SQL Servers using Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Edition and Windows AlwaysOn Advanced Availability Groups (AAG).

    • Context Store EDM is installed without the Avaya Control Manager databases (Also known as standalone EDM) on a cluster of Microsoft SQL Servers using Microsoft SQL Server Standard Edition and Windows AlwaysOn Basic Availability Group (BAG).

  • For standalone Context Store:

    • Context Store EDM is installed standalone on a cluster of Microsoft SQL Servers using Microsoft SQL Server Standard Edition and Windows AlwaysOn Basic Availability Group (BAG).

Important:
  • For a non-HA configuration in production environments, the co-resident deployment of Avaya Control Manager and EDM is not supported.

  • In an availability group, you must have a maximum of two EDM replicas.

Note:

Context Store supports the EDM database running the Microsoft SQL Server versions specified in the tables below on any supported version of the Windows Operating System.

For more information about supported version combinations on the Microsoft Documentation website, see:

Supported combinations of Avaya Control Manager and Context Store EDM co-resident deployment using AlwaysOn AAG

Note:

For more information about TDE, see the Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) on External Data Mart section of this document.

The following version combinations are tested for the co-resident deployment using AAG:

The following supported versions apply to the Context Store EDM when it is deployed as part of the Avaya Oceana solution.

For more information on how to deploy EDM as standalone or as co-resident with Avaya Control Manager on MS SQL server, see Chapter 10: Deploy External Data Mart in the Deploying Avaya Oceana® guide.

If you are a non Avaya Oceana® user, see Database deployment for more information on how to deploy EDM within a standalone Context Store deployment.
