The system monitor window contains a number of icons:

Uses

Open File Open File

Open a previous saved monitor log file, see Opening a Log File. Can also be used to open a Syslog file that has been produced by a system. See Converting Syslog Files.

Save Screen Log As Save Screen Log As

Save the current monitor log to a text file. See Saving the Screen Log as a Log File.

Rollover Log Rollover Log

Force the current log file to rollover. Monitor adds the date and time to the log file name and then starts a new log file. See Manually Rolling Over the Log File.

Stop Logging Stop Logging

Stop logging to a file. See Stopping File Logging.

Start Logging Start Logging

Start logging to a file. See Starting File Logging.

Text Logging Text Log Files

This icon indicates that monitor is currently set to text or binary file logging. Clicking the icon changes the mode and forces a rollover of the current log file. See Switching Between Binary and Text Logging.

Binary Logging Binary Log Files

Clear DisplayClear Display

Clear the current log shown in the display.

Log to Screen Run Screen Display

Show the live monitor log in the display.

Freeze Screen Logging Freeze Screen Logging

Pause the live monitor log in the display. This does not stop the logging to file.

Reconnect Reconnect

Connect to the system specified in the Select Unit options. See Reconnecting to the monitored system.

Trace Options Trace Options

Set the filter options for what should be included in the logs.

Log Preferences Log Preferences

Set the format and destination for the monitor log file.

Select Unit Select Unit

Set the details of the system to monitor. See Selecting the system to monitor.
