Updating the Avaya Aura MS physical appliance Boot Mode to UEFI

About this task

New Avaya Aura® MS appliances are shipped with the appliance software installed and the Boot Mode set appropriately. When reinstalling an Avaya Aura® MS appliance software version newer than 10.1.0 SP2 onto a server that previously used an earlier version, the Boot Mode must be set UEFI.

Important:

Changing the Boot Mode to UEFI will prevent the previously installed system from booting. A reinstall must be done after this procedure to use the appliance.

Perform the following procedure to configure the Boot Mode in preparation for reinstallation of the Avaya Aura® MS appliance.

Before you begin

The power to the server must be On to boot the system.

Procedure

  1. Restart the server using one of the following methods:
    • Press Control+Alt+Delete and select Restart.

    • Type reboot in a Linux® shell.

    • Press the power button to switch Off the server and press the power button again to switch it On.

    • Press the reset button until the server restarts.

  2. To enter System Setup menu, press F2 during boot.
  3. Navigate to System Bios > Boot Settings.
    Note:

    If the Boot Mode is already set to UEFI, no further changes are required.

  4. Set Boot Mode to UEFI.
  5. Select Back, Finish, and Yes to save the changes. Select OK to confirm the changes.
  6. Select Finish and Yes to confirm the changes.

    The system will reboot.

  7. press F2 during boot to enter System Setup menu.
  8. Navigate to System Bios > Boot Settings > UEFI Boot Settings.
  9. Under Boot Option Enable/Disable, ensure that PXE Device 1: Integrated NIC 1 Port 1 Partition 1 is not selected.
  10. Select Back.
  11. Select Back.
  12. Select Finish and Yes to save the changes. Select OK to confirm the changes.
    Tip:

    Insert the new installation DVD before completing the final confirmation.

    Tip:

    If updating to version 10.2.0 SP1 or newer, enable secure boot before exiting.

  13. Select Finish and Yes to complete all the changes.

    The system will reboot.
