Contacts

Last Updated : Apr 02, 2024 |

Users can add, edit, and delete contacts with the Contacts application. Users can also select a contact name or number to make calls. Users can merge numbers assigned to different contacts under one contact name to combine contacts. Users can create contact groups for a faster access. For example, users can create a contact group for people in the same department.

Users can search for contacts in an LDAP directory and a downloadable directory. When searching for a contact in an LDAP directory, users can specify attributes in a search query and view up to 49 attributes for each match.

Users can perform enterprise search for contacts from Avaya Aura® Device Services (AADS) in an Enterprise directory. Users can select the Enterprise directory as a contacts search source. When enabled, the name of the search source changes from System contacts to Enterprise directory.

Note:

You need not configure Global exchange for a phone seperately as the contacts search result from the Enterprise directory and Global exchange are the same when you enable AADS contacts sync on the phone.

You can restrict users from searching for contacts in Personal Profile Manager (PPM). When you block the PPM contacts search, the phone disables the system contacts search source for the users.

Note:

When you configure the Enterprise directory for the user, the phone disables the PPM contacts search.

The following are the types of contacts:
  • Local contacts: Contacts the user adds. The phone saves these contacts as part of the user data.

  • System contacts: Contacts in a company directory or database.

  • Global Exchange contacts: Contacts in a company exchange directory.

  • Personal Exchange contacts: Contacts from a user exchange account.

  • Microsoft® Exchange contacts: Contacts that are accessible if you configure Microsoft® Exchange.
