Certificates

Network entities use certificates to establish secure communication between a client and a server. When the client initiates a server connection, the server presents its identity certificate to the client and the client validates the server identity certificate.

The client maintains a trust store for server identity certificate validation. If the server additionally requires mutual authentication, it requests an identity certificate from the client. The client must provide the client identity certificate, and the server must validate the client identity certificate to complete mutual authentication and establish a secure connection.

The phones support the following types of certificates:

  • Server trust certificates

  • Phone identity certificates
