Using IP Office Locations with Avaya Wireless DECT Base Stations

Last Updated : Feb 11, 2022 |

Within the IP Office configuration, you can create locations and associate each extension with a location. The location information can define which ARS is used for emergency calls by the those extensions and address information for sending on SIP trunks. Refer to the IP Office Emergency Call Configuration documentation.

Whilst a location is assigned to every IP Office extension, there are caveats to the use of locations with Avaya Wireless DECT extensions, see below.

Extension Location without Base Station Location Support

Since by their nature Avaya Wireless DECT extensions can move around a site and between buildings whilst in use, unless the customer site is able to use a single location for all extensions, it is recommended to create a separate location entry for the Avaya Wireless DECT extensions. That entry should warn that the precise physical location of the handset needs to be determined at the time of any emergency call.

Extension Location with Base Station Location Support

For IP Office R11.1 FP2 SP2 and higher, you can assign IP Office locations to each Avaya Wireless DECT base station. When a Avaya Wireless DECT extension makes an emergency call, the emergency settings of the base station's IP Office location are used.

This section of covers the implementation of base station locations.
