For safe installation and operation of the Branch Gateway, carefully read all requirements, recommendations, and instructions.
System grounding must comply with the general grounding rules provided in Article 250 of the National Electrical Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 70, or the applicable electrical codes in the country of installation.
Grounding requirements differ widely among countries. With addition to the grounding instructions in this section, you must follow the local electrical installation codes for your location.
For AC powered systems, the following two safety grounds are required to ensure safe operation of each Branch Gateway and each EM200:
The ground conductors in the AC power cords.
The supplementary ground conductor, a field-installed green and yellow conductor.
Connect all of the safety grounds to an approved ground. If a power cord accompanies the Branch Gateway or EM200, use that cord whenever possible.
Warning:
Ensure that you follow grounding recommendations. Otherwise, the system:
Becomes unsafe for personnel handling or using the equipment.
Is not adequately protected from lightning or power transients.
Is subjected to service interruptions.
