Enabling IPv6 support for software-only deployments

Last Updated : Nov 20, 2021 |
Prolog information
When IPv6 is enabled, you can use both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses to access Avaya Aura® Device Services. You must enable IPv6 support at the system layer first and then enable it at the application layer. This procedure describes how to enable IPv6 on the system layer for software-only deployments.
  1. Log in to the virtual machine where you plan to deploy the Avaya Aura® Device Services application as the root user.
  2. Open the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 file in a text editor of your choice.
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
    For example: vi /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0.
  3. Add the following entries to the file:
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: IPV6INIT=yes
    IPV6ADDR=<IPV6_ADDRESS>
    IPV6_DEFAULTGW=<IPV6_DEFAULT_GATEWAY_ADDRESS>
    In these entries:
    • <IPV6_ADDRESS> is an IPv6 address that you want to use for Avaya Aura® Device Services. This IPv6 address can optionally contain the IPv6 prefix.
    • <IPV6_DEFAULT_GATEWAY_ADDRESS> is the IPv6 default gateway address.
    Do not enclose the IPV6ADDR and IPV6_DEFAULTGW parameter values with quotation marks.
    The following is an example of the configured IPv6 settings:
    IPV6INIT=yes
    IPV6ADDR=2001:0DB8:A001::0123/64
    IPV6_DEFAULTGW=2001:0DB8:A001::1
  4. Save the file.
  5. To restart the RHEL networking service, run the following commands:
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: nmcli connection reload
    nmcli networking off && nmcli networking on
