Auto attendant configuration

Last Updated : May 14, 2024 |

In addition to basic voicemail operation, embedded voicemail supports auto attendant services. Each auto attendant consists of:

  • Actions

You can assign an action to each of the normal DTMF dialing keys (*, # and 0 to 9). You can also assign an action for the detection of fax tone. Callers can press a key for a action while listening to the greeting prompts.

  • Prompts

You can record greeting prompts and a menu actions prompt:

    • You can record separate morning, afternoon and evening (out of hours) greeting prompts for each auto-attendant. Associated time profiles set which greeting prompt the auto-attendant uses at any time. In situations where time profiles are absent, overlap, or conflict; the order of precedence for the prompt used is to use the morning greeting, the afternoon greeting, and then the evening greeting.

    • The greeting prompt is followed by the menu options prompt. The menu options prompt informs the caller of the auto-attendant key-press options.

The IP Office lets you to configure up to 40 auto-attendants. This is useful even though Embedded Voicemail only supports up to 6 simultaneous calls. For example:

  • You can configure different auto-attendants for different incoming call routes.

  • You can use the Transfer to Auto Attendant action to have a current call passed to another auto-attendant to provide additional options.

  • Using time profiles in an incoming call route, you can route calls to different auto-attendants based on the time of day, date, or day of week.

  • You can configure and switch between different auto-attendants as required.
