Tracing messages using Avaya Breeze® platform traceMessage

Avaya Breeze® platform traceMessage supports tracing messages of multiple protocols and components. You can customize the display of the trace message results using the display filter options that traceMessage provides.
traceMessage displays a maximum of 10000 messages.
Note:
While configuring the HTTP proxy exclusion list using CEnetSetup, if you used the OR symbol (|) to separate multiple values in HTTP_PROXY_EXCLUSION, traceMessage does not display the IP address or FQDN of Avaya Breeze® platform. You must manually edit the proxy.sh file at /etc/profile.d/ and add double quotation marks (“ “) around the value of HTTP_PROXY_EXCLUSION to correct the error.
  1. Using PuTTY, start an SSH session with Avaya Breeze® platform.
  2. Run the traceMessage command.
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
    Use the traceMessage -? command to view the optional filters to use with the command.
  3. Press s to start the message trace.
    STEP RESULT:
    traceMessage displays the Start Capture window.
  4. Select one or more of the following options to customize the message trace:
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
    • SIP
    • Media Server
    • Breeze Platform
    • Bus
    • TLS handshaking
    • HTTP
    • Snap-Ins
    Use the arrow keys to scroll to the option and the spacebar to select the option.
  5. Use the arrow keys to select OK to start the trace.
  6. Press s to stop the message trace.
  7. Press f to customize the display of the message trace results.
  8. Press q to quit Avaya Breeze® platform traceMessage.
Result
traceMessage displays the output file containing the traced messages. After you quit, traceMessage saves the file at /var/log/Avaya/trace.
