Long-term acoustic protection

Last Updated : Aug 28, 2026 |
Prolog information
Avaya J100 Series IP Phones support long-term acoustic exposure protection to prevent users from getting acoustic shocks. This feature reduces the loud volume of the conversations on the phone call to permissible acoustic limits. You and the phone user can set the acoustic limit value. If you set the acoustic limit value, that value is available to the user as a default value. If you do not set the acoustic limit value, the default value of the parameter ACOUSTIC_EXPOSURE_PROTECT_MODE_DEFAULT is the default value on the phone UI. The phone UI displays a list of permissible acoustic limit values and the default value for the user selection.
Long-term acoustic protection is supported only in L100 Series Headsets with an RJ9 connector and the Headset Profile1.To set the acoustic limit value use the phone web interface or the 46xxsettings.txt file.
You can enable the long-term acoustic protection feature to protect the ears of the headset user. Long-term acoustic protection is supported only in L100 Series Headsets with RJ9 connector, when the headset profile is set to Profile1. You can configure this feature by using the 46xxsettings.txt file.
Note:
Avaya J129 IP Phone does not support long-term acoustic protection.
