With the Multicast Paging feature, users can send one-way voice messages to a group of phones. By default, these messages are sent within the same network subnet; however, with configurable Time-To-Live (TTL) support, paging can be extended across multiple subnets.
You can set specific multicast IP addresses and ports to define the Multicast Paging group. You can configure paging groups for all the phones in the network and define a priority level for each outgoing group. You must configure outgoing and incoming multicast page groups separately so that the list of senders and recipients can vary.
The phone speaker plays an incoming multicast page. During the transmission, the Phone screen displays a message box with the notification of an incoming multicast page.
Users can send a multicast page to the groups from the Features screen. You can also add a multicast page key to the Phone screen. Users can add, move, or delete the Multicast Paging keys from the Phone screen customization menu. During an outgoing transmission, the phones display a message indicating an active multicast page and do not display incoming calls. Users can activate any available audio device to send a page. The phones transmit a multicast page similar to an outgoing call.
If there is an incoming multicast page transmission with a higher priority, the phones ignore other transmissions, including lower-priority pages and incoming calls. Active calls have a priority level of 3 and are put on hold when transmitting a multicast page with a higher priority.
You can use the following methods to configure Multicast Paging:
Multicast Paging does not depend on the SIP server and can be configured independently. The network used for Multicast Paging configuration must support multicast transmission.
IP Office environment and CCMS mode do not support Multicast Paging.
