Adding disk storage space to a CMS virtual machine

Last Updated : Jul 09, 2025 |

About this task

You can use the procedures in this section to add disk storage space to a medium or large CMS virtual machine. You need to add disk storage space if the CMS server was not allocated the recommended maximum disk storage space when installed.

The recommended maximum disk storage space is:

  • Medium server configuration: 1200 GB for VMware and 400 GB for KVM.

  • Large server configuration: 1800 GB for VMware and 1000 GB for KVM.

Caution:

Small server configuration: Do not add extra disk storage space to a small server configuration. Adding disk storage space will not affect the service but may impact system performance.

Warning:

All server configurations:

  • Do not change any other resource settings. Changing allocated resources impacts the performance, capacity, and stability of the CMS virtual machine.

  • To run at full capacity, the server configuration must match the resource requirements outlined in the Deploying Avaya Call Management System document. Any deviation from the resource requirements is at the customer’s risk.

Before you begin

  • Check whether IDS is installed on the server and that IDS is turned on.

  • Determine the current disk size.

  • Power off the CMS server.
