Creating an SNMP target profile

About this task

Create a target profile for the System Manager TrapReceiver. The System Manager Serviceability Agent is already configured with a default target profile and default user for the local TrapReceiver. Other target profiles can be set up for the SAL Gateway and NMS destinations to receive alarm traps/informs.

Procedure

  1. In System Manager, click Services > Inventory > Manage Serviceability Agents > SNMP Target Profiles.
  2. Either:
    • Select the default, SMGR Trap Receiver, and click Edit, or

    • Click New to create a new target profile.

  3. Enter the following information:
    1. Name: If you are creating a new target profile, enter the SNMP target profile name.
    2. Description: Enter a description of the SNMP target profile. This field is optional.
    3. IP Address: Enter the IP address of the target server.
    4. Port: Enter the port of the target server.
    5. Notification Type: Select a Notification Type from the drop-down menu. The values are Trap and Inform.
    6. Protocol: Select the appropriate SNMP protocol from the drop-down menu.
  4. Click the Attach/Detach User Profile tab.
  5. Select the appropriate User Profile, if applicable.
  6. Click Commit.
